No matter how much trade show experience you have, planning for this kind of event isn’t always a simple process. Working with an experienced planner, however, can help ensure every aspect runs smoothly and efficiently.
This month we sat down with our project manager, Victoria Sullivan, to get her expert insights on the industry and how exhibitors can best prepare for an upcoming show.
Are there any trade show myths that aren’t always true?
You don’t have to spend a lot of money to have a presence. A great exhibit design and graphics can have a really big impact! However, first impressions definitely matter. If a booth is not maintained or is not current, it will be noticed by attendees and prospects, and not in a good way. It’s important to keep a booth looking fresh and aligned with company branding.
Keeping your booth up-to-date doesn’t necessarily mean you need a complete redesign. This can be accomplished by upgrading booth features to include modern elements, paying close attention to colors and styles for a current feel.
Reconfiguring a booth from year to year is another powerful and efficient way to make an impact while being friendly on the wallet. This is where modular systems can come into play. Clients get the benefit of a different exhibit look with a reconfigured layout along with the option to add new graphics.
What is one of the most common questions received from exhibitors planning for a show?
There are two questions that are commonly asked during the planning process of an exhibit. Budget is a frequent concern, which we are able to help clients with thanks to our in-house project management expertise, extensive offerings, and vendor relationships.
The other common question that clients want to know is how early they can get into their booth before the show opens. They are eager to merchandise the booth, arrange products, and walk around to become comfortable in their space. It’s such a short window from show set-up to show opening. Part of what makes Nimlok NYC unique is that our project planning services and in-house installation offer a seamless experience for our clients.
What is one piece of advice you give all of your clients?
It’s never too early to get started on a project. Adhere to your production schedules, timelines, and approval process to help avoid rush situations. Also, if you are working with a branding or advertising agency, starting early will allow more time to develop cohesive branding. This translates into thoughtfully developed images and a unified exhibit presence that can get a company’s message across. Lately, we’ve been using a lot of highly illuminated backlit graphics, which help amplify companies branding efforts and draw more people into the trade show exhibit.
