Trade shows are great for marketing products, services, and branding. However, if you rent space at a trade show and nobody comes by your booth, it’s a waste of money.
It’s important to achieve a positive ROI for the trade shows you attend every year. This means you need to know how to attract a crowd to your booth. Here are a few tips to help you get a crowd of interested attendees at your booth.
Make your Space Relaxing
With the hustle and bustle of the trade show, attendees often look for a place to relax. If you have a space they can sit down, enjoy a drink or just relax for a few minutes, they may just migrate your way.
A relaxing atmosphere provides the ability for you to show off your product, service, and brand. Since the attendees will linger longer, you won’t have to feel like you have to get a 10-second pitch out as they are passing by.
Give Away Prizes
Booths with contests and prizes tend to draw more attention than booths without anything fun. You can create a simple contest, which each attendee can participate in. The contest could be spinning a wheel, making a putt on a small putting green or any other fun game. You can give something small away just for participating and give them entries into a drawing for a larger prize if they sink the putt or win the game.
Celebrity Autograph Signings
If you really want to attract attention to your trade show booth, hire an industry celebrity to sign autographs. This will draw a large amount of attention to your booth, especially if you market the signing properly.
Provide Plenty of Promotional Items
People love getting things for free at trade shows. Make sure you have plenty of promotional items to hand out. It’s also good if you choose something unique, like an energy drink or bottle opener. Everybody gives away pens and keychains. If you make your promotional item stand out, attendees are more likely to remember your brand.
If the show is just for adults or the majority of the attendees will be adults, a casino game may be a fun addition to draw a crowd. However, if the trade show will see a number of children or families in attendance, you may want to choose an impressionist for entertainment or something more family-friendly. Choose the right entertainment for the show and you may have a crowd around your booth throughout the entire show.
Show Off Everything
If you have a new product or service you are promoting, instead of telling the attendees, show it off. Have your staff perform product demonstrations even when nobody is in your area. You can also put up videos, slide shows and other visual aids on large TVs to grab attention.
There are many different ways to draw a large crowd to your trade show booth. You don’t have to have a gimmick, but you should have a way to grab attention when somebody is passing by. Of course, the right gimmick may have people raving about your booth and your brand.
